Forget the drama—Gwyneth Paltrow and Meghan Markle aren’t rivals, they’re sharing dessert. Despite online whispers of a supposed feud between the two lifestyle moguls, Paltrow just put an end to the speculation in the most unexpected way: by teaming up with Markle herself.
On March 25, Paltrow hosted a candid Instagram Q&A, answering fan questions about everything from her Marvel return (still unclear) to the empty-nest experience (bittersweet but freeing). Then came the juicy one: “Are you comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have?”
Cue the perfect response. Paltrow, looking genuinely puzzled, said, “I genuinely do not understand this at all, whatsoever.” Then, with a smirk, she panned the camera over to Markle—who was sitting right next to her. The Suits star, unfazed, simply shrugged and took a bite of pie before bursting into laughter.
So much for the rumors.
The so-called “feud” between the Duchess of Sussex and the Goop founder took on a life of its own after fans speculated that Paltrow was throwing shade at Markle by posting a breakfast-making video. Then Markle, in what some claimed was a subtle clapback, shared a banana split-making clip. Add in a salad video featuring Paltrow’s trainer Tracy Anderson, and suddenly the internet was convinced there was a full-blown lifestyle-brand war.
But, as BuzzFeed pointed out, Paltrow has long shared cooking content, and Markle’s newfound interest in the space—thanks to her Netflix show With Love, Meghan, her upcoming food brand As Ever, and her new podcast—simply put her in the same orbit.
Paltrow had already attempted to shut down the gossip in an interview with Vanity Fair just days earlier.
“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,” she stated, emphasizing that “there’s always more than enough to go around.” She also admitted she doesn’t personally know Markle well, despite both living in Montecito.
“I don’t know Meghan and Harry,” she said. “I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all. Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”
Looks like Markle saved her the trouble. Feud? Squashed. Now, the real question: Is a Goop x As Ever collab on the horizon? Don’t be surprised if the answer is yes.
